Certified Annuity Specialist® | Program Overview

The Certified Annuity Specialist® (CAS®) designation is now celebrating its eighth year. CAS® is the oldest designation in the annuity industry. Moreover, the Certified Annuity Specialist® designation is the first annuity designation recognized by numerous Fortune 500 Companies.

Your peers sell fixed-rate and variable annuities, but there is a strong likelihood that today's sales will cause headaches in the future. Annuities are a major source of litigation and compliance department concerns. It is estimated that one-third of all annuity contracts are not titled correctly. Imagine the potential liability of tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars compounding for decades and then being incorrectly distributed or subject to unnecessary taxes.

The Certified Annuity Specialist® program offered by IBF covers all the traditional aspects of fixed-rate and variable products; a detailed part of the materials also covers the different titling options and the estate and income tax ramifications of each. Practitioners erroneously believe that fixed-rate annuities are limited in choice and design; the actual array of features and contracts is quite extensive. Our annuity program includes the study of variable annuities, which reaches a whole new level when management analysis, correlation coefficients, alpha and selection criteria are factored in. Also included is an analysis of living benefits, a variable annuity rider that is still not largely understood from a cost-benefit perspective.

Seasoned practitioners who have a strong grounding in academics update CAS® materials throughout the year, so. As a Certified Annuity Specialist® student, you will enjoy the best of the theoretical and the practical. The ideas learned will open your eyes to a number of products and riders that you never thought existed. Your clients will benefit from the increased knowledge gained from your designation by investing in products that include unique features and benefits.

As an annuity specialist, you know the value of ongoing education. When you become a certified annuity specialist, you can easily convey your credibility and professionalism to both your existing clients and new ones.

The National Institute of Certified Estate Planners (NICEP)

Their Mission

We work with qualified financial, legal, and tax professionals who understand the importance of estate planning.

We train them to work together as a team to bring to every client a custom tailored estate plan.

We stress that every estate plan should be designed to preserve, protect, and pass on that individual's estate to whom they want, when they want, and how they want.

We think each client should also enjoy the peace of mind that comes from knowing their estate will be managed during their lifetime as they have directed, should they ever become incapacitated.

We believe every American adult deserves an estate plan that allows these goals to be accomplished in the most efficient manner available under the law, and that minimizes costs both now and in the future.
